skills guide

The goal of the program at ESAC is to create artists with a distinctive identity, but who are also able to adapt their work to fit other artistic visions.

We look for:

  • Mastery of the circus specialty
  • Creative autonomy and a strong artistic voice
  • Ability to evaluate the safety of a situation and to make decisions regarding workload
  • Effective adaptation of circus skills in the service of creation and / or research
  • Good management of the artistic creation process
  • Ability to connect personal artistic developments to current events
  • Consciousness of the artist’s role as citizen and connection to the progress of contemporary circus as a whole

Each of these qualities is fostered during educational activities (EA=an individual class). These activities are, in turn, meant to help students attain the expertise and aptitudes which are the goal of the complete program (CP=all of the classes together). These goals are laid out in a detailed document.
